Brain tumours may be benign or malignant. Symptoms vary according to the lesion’s location, size and rate of growth.
Possible symptoms
A new headache or a change in headache pattern, nausea, seizures, speech or visual disturbance, imbalance and weakness on one side of the body may occur.
Diagnosis and planning
Imaging, particularly MRI, is used to examine the characteristics of the lesion. Treatment planning may involve neurology, radiology, oncology and pathology specialists.
Surgical approach
The aim is to establish a diagnosis, relieve pressure and remove as much of the tumour as safely possible. Risks and benefits are assessed individually for every patient.
