Kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive option considered in suitable vertebral compression fractures to support the collapsed vertebral body and reduce pain.
Assessment
The age of the fracture, imaging findings, source of pain and bone quality are assessed together.
Procedure
The vertebral body is accessed in a controlled manner, a cavity is created with a balloon and support is provided with bone cement.
