Approach
Cervical laminoplasty is a surgical technique intended to widen a narrowed spinal canal in the neck while preserving the bony structures.
Who may be suitable?
It may be considered in selected patients with multilevel narrowing of the spinal canal and spinal cord compression.
Primary aim
The aim is to relieve pressure on the spinal cord, preserve neck movement as far as possible and prevent neurological deterioration.
An individual decision
Cervical alignment, the level of compression, age and general health are considered together when selecting the surgical method.
